In 9 BBY Cal Kestis and his companions crossed the Koboh Abyss nebula and, having reached Tanalorr, resolved to set up a Hidden Path refuge on it. The Jedi temple there dated back to the High Republic Era, when Dagan Gera discovered the world; after a Nihil raid the Jedi withdrew from Tanalorr.

Description

Jedi Knight Dagan Gera, who discovered Tanalorr in the High Republic Era, turned against the Order over this world: after a Nihil raid, the Jedi Council had the planet abandoned along with the temple raised there. Data from his flight through the Koboh Abyss nebula in the Outer Rim later became the basis for special compasses, and only these or the aligned ancient installations of Koboh offered a safe route to the planet.

In 9 BBY the Mantis crew built funeral pyres on Tanalorr for Bode Akuna, Cere and Cordova. Bode, who had ignored Cal Kestis and Merrin's pleas to surrender for his daughter Kata's sake, died fighting the pair in the planet's Jedi temple. Cal left his mentor's lightsaber at the graves and set about readying the world, which in his plans was to take in the Hidden Path and also become a new repository for what the Jedi archives held.
