Morgan Elsbeth enters Admiral Thrawn's service
Warning: this entry reveals minor plot details.
Between 9 and 2 BBY, Morgan Elsbeth, who runs the factories of Calodan on Corvus, pitches her TIE Defender starfighter to Imperial officers, but Moff Isdain rejects it. Admiral Thrawn has Captain Pellaeon test her in a fight with the Noghri Rukh, hears her admit that revenge for her slaughtered people drives her, and accepts her help.
Description
Aboard a Star Destroyer near Coruscant, Morgan Elsbeth praises her TIE Defender starfighter: it is more maneuverable, uses less fuel and has better shields. Moff Isdain replies that the design is too expensive and that the Empire wants the resources of the Corvus system rather than her fighter. After the meeting Captain Gilad Pellaeon approaches Morgan; his superior has sent him to such meetings to look for talent. Back in Calodan, Morgan admits to the townspeople that the Empire will not bring them the work and prosperity she had promised. They accuse her of lying and call her a witch, and in return she disowns them as her people. That night the Noghri Rukh attacks her; Morgan fights back with her beskar spear and disarms him, but Pellaeon appears and explains that it was a test. Admiral Thrawn steps forward next. He calls Isdain's refusal short-sighted and asks Morgan to help fight the growing Rebellion. Thrawn points out that her talk of Imperial glory was untrue, and Morgan admits that her people were nearly wiped out and that her anger gives her strength, which she offers to the Empire. Thrawn accepts, and Star Destroyers appear over Calodan.
