Wedge Antilles

Wedge Antilles was a Corellian pilot who trained as a cadet at the Imperial academy at Skystrike. Unwilling to kill indiscriminately, he secretly made contact with the rebels and, with Sabine Wren's help, escaped the academy together with a fellow cadet. That brought him into the Alliance, and by the Battle of Yavin he was flying an X-wing with Red Squadron under the call sign Red Two.

During the attack on the Imperial battle station Wedge shot down a fighter that was tailing Luke Skywalker, then joined him and Biggs Darklighter for the trench run. Fire from Darth Vader's escort damaged his ship and forced him out of the trench before Luke took the decisive shot. Of the twelve pilots of Red Squadron, only the two of them made it back.

On Hoth, now a Rogue Squadron veteran, he flew a snowspeeder with gunner Wes Janson; they were the first to wrap a walker's legs in a tow cable and bring it down. At Endor Wedge led Red Squadron, flew into the unfinished station alongside Lando Calrissian's Millennium Falcon and destroyed the power regulator on the reactor's north tower with torpedoes. Decades later he answered Calrissian's call and manned one of the Falcon's gun turrets at the Battle of Exegol.
