Pre Vizsla

To Mandalore, Vizsla was a man with two faces. In public he was the governor of Concordia, the planet's moon, and stood beside Duchess Satine Kryze as her ally. In the shadows he ran Death Watch, an underground band of Mandalorians who loathed the Duchess's pacifism and wanted their people to live by the warrior code again. The group kept its forces in camps among Concordia's mines and planned its strikes from there, and Vizsla himself wielded the ancient Darksaber.

The bet on Count Dooku, with whom Vizsla secretly agreed to undermine Satine's rule, did not pay off. The Duchess stayed out of reach: a scheme to seize her with the help of Senator Tal Merrik failed, and so did a later plot to have her killed. Even earlier, Death Watch's raids had led Obi-Wan Kenobi to Concordia, where Vizsla himself admitted who led the group, and their duel ended with no winner. In the end Dooku turned away from the Mandalorians, and the band was left to roam.

The second alliance brought Vizsla both power and death. After finding the wounded Maul and his brother in space, he teamed up with them. Maul built the Shadow Collective out of criminal syndicates; a gangster assault on Mandalore was faked, and Death Watch played the rescuers. That cost Satine her power and made Vizsla prime minister. Soon, though, he double-crossed Maul, who demanded a duel for the throne, won it and cut off his rival's head with the Darksaber.
