Cad Bane

Profile

Cad Bane, a Duros whose homeworld was Duro, was a merciless bounty hunter and one of the most dangerous mercenaries of his day, in the Clone Wars as well as under the Empire. Darth Sidious and the Hutts were among his clients, and later the Empire paid him to track down Force-sensitive children. His final employer was the Pyke Syndicate: on Tatooine he faced Boba Fett in a duel and lost his life.

Description

A cold, calculating mercenary, Cad Bane would pursue a target across the whole galaxy if the fee suited him. On the job he counted on two blasters, rocket boots and gauntlets fitted with control devices. One task he came back to twice was hunting Force-sensitive children. In the Clone Wars, on Darth Sidious's orders, he raided the Jedi Temple of Coruscant for a holocron, clashed with Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, and used what the holocron held to abduct such children; under the Empire he caught them for the Imperials instead.

Bane's contracts took him far afield, more than once into Palpatine's path. The Hutts hired him to free Ziro the Hutt, and Bane and a squad of mercenaries seized hostages inside the Senate building and then bargained with the Chancellor. Another time he let himself be locked up in a Coruscant prison to spring Moralo Eval, passed the trial in the Box on Serenno and took charge of the hunters Count Dooku dispatched to Naboo against Palpatine. And under the Empire the Kaminoans paid him to bring back the clone Omega.

Tatooine was the last chapter: by 9 ABY Bane served the Pyke Syndicate there as an enforcer. In Freetown he gunned down the deputy, wounded Marshal Cobb Vanth and told the locals to keep out of the spice trade's way. In talks with Boba Fett he spoke for the Pykes and admitted that they were the ones who had massacred the Tusken tribe that had sheltered Fett. During the Battle of Mos Espa, Bane drove the rancor away with his flamethrower and got the upper hand over Fett at first, yet Fett killed him with a blow of a gaderffii stick.
