Hondo Ohnaka

Pragmatic and charming, the Weequay Hondo Ohnaka commanded pirates who struck at ships across the Outer Rim from their base on Florrum and seized captives to ransom. In the past he had worked side by side with Jango Fett and had been close to Aurra Sing. His path crossed the Jedi's more than once: Hondo respected them but never lost sight of profit, so at different times he stood with them or against them.

His best-known catch was Count Dooku, and later he also took Anakin Skywalker prisoner together with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hondo hoped to collect a ransom for each of them, yet all three got away. Taking Dooku had consequences: General Grievous attacked the gang's base in revenge. Maul became another dangerous foe when he set out to bring Hondo's pirates under his own command. Under the Empire the gang broke up, and Ohnaka went it alone. He became friends with young Ezra Bridger, tipped the rebels off about captive Lasat and joined them in searching a derelict Imperial ship for weapons.

When Hera Syndulla asked for help, Hondo joined the struggle for Lothal. Together with the Ugnaught Melch he kept the officers and stormtroopers in the Imperial complex's command centre busy until the rebels took the room, and later, in one of the strike teams, fought to win a power terminal back from the Imperials. Decades later Ohnaka set up his own business smuggling contraband, and Chewbacca reluctantly became his partner.
