BB-8

BB-8 is a new-model astromech who served the Resistance and helped Poe Dameron fly his X-wing. When a First Order force attacked the village of Tuanul on Jakku, Poe handed the droid the fragment of the map to Luke Skywalker's location that he had received from Lor San Tekka and told him to get as far away as possible. BB-8 vanished into the desert, was taken in by the scavenger Rey and soon left the planet with her and Finn.

At Maz Kanata's castle on Takodana the droid followed Rey into the woods and survived the First Order raid before reaching the Resistance base. In the battle for Starkiller Base he navigated for Poe's fighter, and his fragment, joined with R2-D2's map, pointed the way to Ahch-To. During the evacuation of D'Qar BB-8 repaired the fighter's weapons mid-battle in the attack on the dreadnought, then went with Finn and Rose Tico to Canto Bight and slipped aboard the flagship Supremacy.

In the chaos aboard the flagship BB-8 seized a walker and carried Finn and Rose to a shuttle, and on Crait he determined that, apart from small natural openings, the old base had only its armoured door as a way out. Later he stayed with Rey on Ajan Kloss, joined the team going to Pasaana, where he found the little droid D-O, visited Kijimi and Kef Bir, and in the Battle of Exegol fought alongside the Resistance ground team.
