Barriss Offee

Before a tribunal, shortly before Ahsoka Tano was to be sentenced, the real culprit confessed: Barriss Offee, whom Anakin Skywalker had exposed. It was she who, with Letta Turmond's help, had arranged the Temple hangar bombing and set up her friend. The Order, Barriss said, had gone astray: the war had increasingly turned her against the Jedi, and she had concluded that the Jedi themselves had turned into the villains of this conflict.

Luminara Unduli once asked her Padawan Barriss to memorize the layout of the Geonosian catacombs, and the girl, who cared more for ancient Jedi texts than for war, did it. During the second campaign on Geonosis (she had also fought in the first battle for that world), she and Ahsoka Tano crept through those tunnels to a droid factory to plant explosives. Once discovered, the two Padawans chose to destroy the reactor with an enemy tank, not expecting to survive; its armor saved them both, and the ordeal drew the friends closer.

Years later Barriss lived on a snowy world as a healer whom her attendants called wise mother, and she helped the family of a gifted boy escape. The Fourth Sister tracked her down, gravely wounded her and then carried her out of a cave. The two had known each other in the Order, and after Order 66 it was this acquaintance, by then the Fourth Sister, who brought Barriss into the Inquisitorius; soon, while on an assignment with her, Barriss rejected the Inquisitors' cruelty and went into hiding.
